The university is moving to a new comprehensive cloud-based information system between 2025 and 2029. This will change how every student, faculty member, and staff member digitally interacts with Augsburg, from course registration to accessing pay slips.
Our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is what runs the university’s business of educating students. Our current ERP—Unit4, formerly Agresso—provides the tools to run the financials, human resources, student recordkeeping, registration, and curriculum aspects of the university.
With upcoming changes to Unit4 and the student Records and Registration module, the time is right to move to a new platform with the capacity to unify and streamline our information systems across campus.
Project Goals
There are three major goals of the ERP project. The FAQs have more details on these goals.
- Simplify and transform the student, faculty and staff information experience by reducing the use of third-party systems.
- Enhance analytical capacity to support Augsburg’s growth as a sustainable university.
- Modernize and rethink how we work.
Process and Timeline
The project began in 2024 with the decision to move to a new ERP. The entire process will take through 2029 with distinct phases. This high level process timeline visualizes the first major project phases. The timeline may be adjusted depending on the specifics of the selected vendor.
Three vendors will visit campus in spring 2025 to meet with departments to learn about our needs (called “discovery”) and later to present demonstrations of their systems. They are Jenzabar, Oracle, and Workday. The ultimate recommendation about a new ERP vendor will be informed by community input in various forms, including departmental meetings with key functional areas, open campus meetings, and surveys.
