Workday: What’s In It for Me?

Posted on Categories ERP

We continue to make good progress towards target Workday go-live dates in late December for HR and early January for Finance. As a reminder, the Workday student module will not go live until 2028—Augsburg will still use Unit 4 for student records and registration until that time.

Workday benefits

Implementing Workday for HR and Finance will update our processes related to hiring, employee and manager self-service, time and absence reporting, accounts payable, budgeting, payroll, and performance management. With these changes, you can expect several key benefits.

Digitizing forms and processes

Over the years we’ve made improvements in some areas of the university in terms of online digital forms. But we also have many PDFs or Word documents still in use. With Workday we’ll be able to move those processes fully online with options for multiple approvals and task reminders for people to complete steps.

Improving access to data

From planning time off to tracking a departmental budget, Workday will increase access to relevant and accurate data in the moment so we can make informed decisions. It will also be an easier system for new users or employees without specialized knowledge to use. We’re excited for the ways this will support data sharing, data consistency, and presentation of data across departments to reduce silos and build confidence.

Increasing access and flexibility

Modernizing our systems will improve access to key data, create new self-service options, and create greater flexibility. Workday can be accessed anywhere using a web browser or using the Workday app.

Looking ahead: Demos and training

Stay tuned for “show and tell” opportunities to learn more about Workday in October. Training opportunities will roll out in November.
