Support for Pregnant and Parenting Students

Augsburg University supports students in achieving their academic and personal goals. Students who are pregnant during the academic year are encouraged to contact titleix@augsburg.edu for help and support as needed.

Supports Available

At Augsburg, students who are pregnant or parenting will:

  • Have equal access to classes and activities.
  • Have absences from classes or activities excused due to pregnancy or childbirth for as long as your doctor says is necessary.
  • Have absences from classes or activities excused due to nursing/lactating, whether breastfeeding or pumping.
  • Have the opportunity to complete makeup work and have exams rescheduled due to pregnancy, childbirth, or nursing/lactating.
  • Receive services provided to students with temporary medical conditions, such as using a different desk, recording class lectures, etc.

Students may email titleix@augsburg.edu to discuss medically necessary accommodations in classes and activities due to pregnancy or childbirth (including nursing/lactating). A student may request that a note be sent to faculty and/or staff about such accommodations.

Cleanliness

Augsburg University Facilities Department cleans the rooms each evening but it is up to community members to clean up after themselves during the day. If there are issues related to cleanliness, please call the Department of Public Safety, 612-330-1717 and they will submit a work order to Facilities.

Please refrain from applying perfume in the space as some people have fragrance sensitivity.

If you have any questions or concerns about the cleanliness of the lactation rooms, please contact Facilities Management.
