Each year, the Provost approves searches for full-time faculty hires in the summer prior to the year in which the search will occur. Once the search has been approved, search committee chairs work with the Provost’s Office to manage each stage of the search process.
During the 2017-2018 academic year, Dr. Eve Fine of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Women in Science and Engineering Leadership Institute (WISELI) evaluated Augsburg’s faculty search process. The faculty search guidelines above are informed by Dr. Fine’s final report. Her article, Searching for Excellence & Diversity: A Guide for Search Committees, later developed into a book, is a very helpful guide for faculty searches.
