Data Terms Glossary

Common Data Set (CDS)

The CDS is a standardized report shared with publishers such as U.S. News, Peterson’s, and College Board. This report includes data on enrollment, admissions, financial aid, student life, degrees conferred, and faculty.

The Higher Learning Commission requires that an institution that provides a program that prepares students for a licensure, certification, or other qualifying examination publicly disclose its pass rate on that examination unless such information is not available to the institution.
