Shipping/Receiving

Incoming Packages

All packages are received in Shipping & Receiving.  Regular shipments come from USPS (United States Postal Service), FedEx, UPS, Amazon or couriers.

Students
Will receive an email notifying them that they have received a package and can come to pick it up in Shipping & Receiving during open hours.  They must show a picture ID, preferably a student ID. Student packages will be held for up to two weeks unless other arrangements are made. If a package is not picked up, or arrangements aren’t made, the package will be returned to the sender if possible.

Faculty and Staff
Will receive an email notifying them that they have received a package and it will be delivered to them, the department office or to a different location if special arrangements have been made.  Call 612-330-1750 (x1750 from a campus phone) or email mailship@augsburg.edu if you expect a shipment that will require unusual handling or if you are not on campus currently and have other arrangements you need.

Outgoing Packages

Packages can be shipped via USPS, UPS, or FedEx.  If you have a package with a prepaid shipping label, you are welcome to drop it off in Shipping & Receiving; we have daily pickups from USPS, FedEx, and UPS. FedEx Express and UPS Air will pick-up same day (if completed before 12pm), USPS picks up at 2pm, FedEx and UPS Ground picks up when incoming packages are dropped off, usually around 10am.

Outgoing packages must be prepared by the sending department to include wrapping the item sufficiently for shipping and securing a box.  Shipping & Receiving has a limited quantity of extra boxes, packing materials, bubble-wrap or tape on hand for your use.  Depending on the shipping method, the address label may be system-generated, or you may have to write one.  Bring your package to Shipping & Receiving for comparison of shipping methods and costs.  Be prepared with a complete shipping address and cost center number to charge.  Remember, if you have only a PO BOX number for an address, you will need to ship via the United States Postal Service.

International packages (larger than a business size envelope) Must Have completed customs forms. Customs forms can be found on the websites of the various carriers (USPS, FedEx, UPS, etc).

The Central Services staff can help find the most cost effective method to ship your package.
