Kristina Fruge

Christensen Center for Vocation gathers to celebrate Kristina Fruge
Congratulations Kristina for receiving the April Auggie Pride Award

Nomination: Kristina has done an exceptional job as the program manager of the Riverside Innovation Hub, a 5-year project at Augsburg aims to help congregations to create innovative ministry and make meaningful connections with young adults. As a leader, Kristina always goes above and beyond to motivate and support team members to work for this meaningful project. She is understanding, loving, and caring. She is loved by so many people from Campus Ministry, Christensen Center, and the Religion Department.
Kristina is a wonderful example of someone who is living out her faith to serve the community. As an international student, I have received tremendous support from Kristina as I was going through challenges of finding an OPT internship due to recent changes in regulations from the new administration. Kristina has been very passionate and determined about fighting for my rights as well as promoting interfaith and intercultural diversity on campus.

Catherine Maun

Congratulations Cathrine for receiving the April Auggie Pride Award

Nomination: Catherine was interviewed for an article titled “One Nation” in the winter 2018 issue of St. Olaf magazine. The article highlighted Augsburg’s commitment to supporting students who are undocumented, and Catherine’s hard work and passion for helping students. It is clear that Catherine takes pride in her work at Augsburg and our commitment to diversity. Read the article, On Nation.

March 2018 Auggie Pride Recipients

Congratulations to Jack Hein, Admissions Operations Coordinator for receiving the March Auggie Pride Award. New in August, Jack hit the ground running and his colleagues, student workers, and prospective students have been impacted by his presence. Staff Senate admires the work he does everyday and are honored to award him with this month’s Auggie Pride Award.

Admissions gathers to celebrate Jack's Auggie Pride AwardJACK HEIN

Nomination: Jack Hein, Admissions Operations Coordinator, started at Augsburg in August 2017. August is really when admissions starts getting busy, however, that’s didn’t affect Jack of any sort as he is a true professional. Jack immediately jumped into the vortex of craziness without any hesitation by answering phones his first week and working with the Auggie Ambassadors on how to improve the service at the Admissions Front Desk. Jack truly brings his personality of a kind person, warm thoughts and more importantly his ability to stay calm when it is extremely busy. Jack works closely with our Auggie Ambassadors to the point that he has trained in over 15 students to be independent at the front with limited supervision. In addition Jack is always “hungry” to add to his skills by taking on additional tasks such as document processing, updating forms, and managing social media. We are blessed to have Jack part of our team.

Staff Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are needed to help make signature events like commencement, homecoming, and the Nobel Peace Prize Forum a success. This is also a great way to meet staff from a wide range of departments across our campus. If you are volunteering during your regularly scheduled work time and would like to use your allotted community service hours, please check with your supervisor. Weekend or after-hours commitments are not eligible for community service and would be considered volunteer time.

Staff Senate Updated Bylaws

As a response to the name change Staff Senate took this fall to revisit the Bylaws. There were five main revisions that were brought to the University Council for review:

  1. Name change to University
  2. Co-chairs – at least one must be an elected representative
  3. Including the union groups for nominations and election voting rights
  4. Updating the employee handbook statement to the 2017 handbook version.
  5. Policy Recommendations – Changes to the process
    • Adding more clarification on bringing items to HR
    • Adding University Council review

The bylaws are linked on our About page for your reference.
