Kennedy Center and Christiansen Center Dock Access Issues To Be Addressed

The card access doors at the main entrance to the Kennedy Center and the dock entrance to Christensen Center have not been responding properly to the use of key fobs due to a hardware issue. The Department of Public Safety is working with our vendors to acquire and install new hardware to address these issues as soon as possible.  Until the door hardware can be replaced, other arrangements will be in place to provide continued access to these areas.

Wondering about the new cloud of steam on campus? The steamwork diversion in December, which allowed repairs to be made without a shutoff, was made possible thanks to a new steam outlet in front of the ice arena.

No Steam Shutoff for Repairs

The steam repair mentioned in A-mail last week does not require a steam shutoff to campus buildings after all. The steam is being diverted from Riverside Avenue onto our property.

LED Upgrade Paused Until January

The LED upgrade work has been suspended until January 3, when work will resume on Sverdrup and Old Main.

Snow Removal Procedure

As winter approaches, we would like to remind members of the community about our snow removal procedure. We will remove snow from parking lots, city streets, and sidewalks in that order. Whenever snow removal is necessary, our goal is to have it done by 7:50 a.m.

Anyone who sees an icy patch on campus should report it to DPS (extension 1717). Facilities Management will then dispatch someone to treat it. In addition, buckets of salt are available at most main entrances to buildings.

Science 123 Is Ready for Spring Classes

The railing for Science 123 has been installed, and the classroom is ready for classes this spring. This remodeled classroom space is not designed to be reconfigured; large classes that will require movable tables will be scheduled in different classrooms.

Athletic Dome Is Now Up

The work on the new Athletic Dome is complete. The facility is now in use.

LED Upgrade Project Delayed

The continuation of the LED upgrade project was delayed. The next phase of work is now scheduled to begin on Monday, December 6. The next buildings to have LED lights installed will be Sverdrup, Science, and Memorial halls.
