{"id":1840,"date":"2021-08-03T15:02:39","date_gmt":"2021-08-03T20:02:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.augsburg.edu\/outbreak-planning\/?p=1840"},"modified":"2021-08-12T09:53:34","modified_gmt":"2021-08-12T14:53:34","slug":"augsburg-reinstates-indoor-mask-policy-due-to-substantial-regional-covid-19-transmission-rates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.augsburg.edu\/outbreak-planning\/2021\/08\/03\/augsburg-reinstates-indoor-mask-policy-due-to-substantial-regional-covid-19-transmission-rates\/","title":{"rendered":"Augsburg Reinstates Indoor Mask Policy Due to Substantial Regional COVID-19 Transmission Rates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that all individuals\u2014vaccinated and unvaccinated\u2014wear face coverings in public indoor spaces in any county where the COVID-19 transmission rate is substantial or high.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the last weekend in July, cases in Hennepin and Ramsey counties moved to a \u201csubstantial\u201d transmission rate (between 50 and 99.99 cases per 100,000 population over 7 days, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#county-view\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as defined by the CDC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a result, <\/span><b>Augsburg reinstated the indoor face covering requirement, effective August 3. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All students, staff, and faculty are required to wear face coverings in indoor campus spaces, except when eating in dining areas or when in one\u2019s own residential unit or individual office with the door closed. This applies to all U.S. Augsburg locations. (International Augsburg locations are following local protocols.) Masks or face coverings are not required outdoors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The indoor mask requirement is expected to remain in effect until regional case rates return to moderate or low levels. Augsburg has added the 7-day regional case rate for Hennepin and Ramsey counties to its <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.augsburg.edu\/outbreak-planning\/covid-19-alert-levels-dashboard\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">COVID-19 dashboard report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is updated weekly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the increasing prevalence of the significantly more transmissible COVID-19 Delta variant, Augsburg will continue to adapt its public health protocols this fall based on campus case and vaccination rates, regional transmission rates, and other factors on campus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While masks or face coverings provide an important additional layer of protection during times when transmission levels are significant, the most important protection against severe illness from COVID-19 is to get vaccinated. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s why Augsburg<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> remains committed to supporting individuals who would like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLScsvnJHraGxImWgV-RxEsenoXcWoKW2cdpxLgBL4HgSP4pdDg\/viewform\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">information about or help with COVID-19 vaccinations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
