The focus of the Transition program is on Employment, Independent Living, Community Participation, and Recreation and Leisure. This program is offered in partnership with Upstream Arts (https:\/\/www.upstreamarts.org\/). They are looking for anywhere from 1-4 college students to participate. Play-Well TEKnologies, uses LEGO to teach engineering concepts to students from Kindergarten through 6th grade.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Their mission is to build curiosity in engineering and architecture among future college students. If you\u2019d like more information about Play-Well, visit them at: &lt;http:\/\/www.play-well.org&gt;. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">\u25a0<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Volunteer Opportunity at Murray Middle School in St. Paul: Cindy Thrasher, a teacher and program coordinator at Murray Middle School in St. Paul, is looking for volunteers to participate in the &#8220;Pilot One-on-One Tutoring Program.&#8221; Volunteers work with individual students to support their English, math, social studies, and science skills during the school day. Time is also spent developing students&#8217; study skills. Tutors are needed Monday through Friday from 12:29-1:17, 1:21-2:08, and\/or 2:12-3:00pm for the entire semester. You can pick a day\/time that works best for you, but Cindy is looking for students who can commit to volunteering for the entire semester. If you are interested, please contact Cindy (cindy.thrasher@spps.org, 651-293-8740) for more information and to schedule a training session.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">\u25a0<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Teach This Summer at LearningWorks: <span class=\"s4\">The Breakthrough Collaborative mission is to launch high potential, low-income middle school students on the path to college, while also inspiring talented high school and college students to pursue careers in education. At LearningWorks, we achieve this mission by using a \u201cstudents-teaching-students\u201d model. During our 9 weeks of summer programming, 35 talented high school and college students work as teachers, advisors, and mentors for 120 middle school students from Minneapolis Public Schools. LearningWorks teachers are creative, diverse, intelligent, and highly motivated. They represent many academic and personal backgrounds, but share a commitment to students and closing the opportunity gap. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p8\"><span class=\"s3\">An application can be found at: &lt;http:\/\/breakthroughcollaborative.org\/teach\/apply&gt;.
