While this program is completely voluntary, many employees have found it to provide great benefits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Certificate Program offers participants the following key benefits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li data-start=\"124\" data-end=\"374\">\n<p data-start=\"127\" data-end=\"374\"><strong data-start=\"127\" data-end=\"160\">Increased Cultural Understanding<\/strong>: Participants gain a deeper understanding of different identities, perspectives, and experiences, helping them interact more effectively and empathetically with all students, colleagues, and communities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"633\" data-end=\"885\">\n<p data-start=\"636\" data-end=\"885\"><strong data-start=\"636\" data-end=\"676\">Bias Awareness and Disruption Skills<\/strong>: Through exploration of unconscious bias and microaggressions, participants learn to recognize and interrupt bias in real time, contributing to a nondiscriminatory and respectful campus culture.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"887\" data-end=\"1130\">\n<p data-start=\"890\" data-end=\"1130\"><strong data-start=\"890\" data-end=\"936\">Collaborative Problem Solving and Dialogue<\/strong>: The program provides a space for cross-departmental dialogue and collaboration, encouraging participants to share perspectives, troubleshoot challenges, and build community across differences.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1132\" data-end=\"1406\" data-is-last-node=\"\">\n<p data-start=\"1135\" data-end=\"1406\" data-is-last-node=\"\"><strong data-start=\"1135\" data-end=\"1188\">Professional Development and Institutional Impact<\/strong>: Completion of the certificate program enhances participants\u2019 professional credentials and supports institutional goals by demonstrating a commitment to inclusion.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Completion Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>In order to complete the Certificate Program, participants should complete the 17 credits of training listed below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Complete <em><strong>Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Process<\/strong><\/em>, 4.5 Credits\n<ul>\n<li>Complete the online Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI)<\/li>\n<li>Attend an IDI Group Profile Session<\/li>\n<li>Attend an IDI Individual Feedback Session<\/li>\n<li>Complete an IDI Intercultural Development Plan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Attend\u00a0<em><strong>Intercultural Communication and Conflict Style Workshop<\/strong><\/em>, 3 Credits<\/li>\n<li>Attend <em><strong>Working Toward\u00a0Inclusive Spaces Workshop<\/strong><\/em>, 2 Credits<\/li>\n<li>Attend <strong><em>Brave Space Training<\/em><\/strong>, 2 Credits<\/li>\n<li>Attend <em><strong>Disability as Diversity\u00a0Workshop<\/strong><\/em>, 2 Credits<\/li>\n<li>Attend\u00a0<em><strong>All About Bias\u00a0Workshop<\/strong><\/em>, 1.5 Credits<\/li>\n<li>Attend\u00a0<em><strong>From Microinequities to Inclusion\u00a0Workshop<\/strong><\/em>, 2 Credits<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>**Scroll down to view workshop descriptions and to register.**<\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Maintaining Good Standing<\/h2>\n<p>After completing the Certificate Program, individuals can maintain good standing by attending 3 inclusion-related events (i.e. workshops, trainings, discussions, panels, etc.) every following academic year during their time at Augsburg University. <em>After completing an event, individuals should email the event name, date, time, and location to <a href=\"mailto:inclusion@augsburg.edu\">inclusion@augsburg.edu<\/a>\u00a0so that the event can be recorded.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Obtaining Advanced Standing<\/h2>\n<p>Individuals who have completed the Certificate Program may also work towards an Advanced Standing designation. In order to achieve Advanced Standing, individuals should attend 6 inclusion-based events (i.e. workshops, trainings, discussions, panels, etc.), each lasting at least 1 hour, within 1 academic year. Any event listed on the Equity and Inclusion Initiatives Event Calendar (that is not a part of the Certificate Program) can count towards the Advanced Standing designation along with any other off-campus inclusion-based events. <em>To receive credit for event attendance and to have it applied towards the Advanced Standing designation, email the event name, date, time, and location to <a href=\"mailto:inclusion@augsburg.edu\">inclusion@augsburg.edu<\/a>\u00a0so the event can be recorded.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Maintaining Advanced Standing<\/h2>\n<p>After receiving the Advanced Standing designation in the Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program, individuals can maintain advanced good standing by attending 6 inclusion-related events (i.e. workshops, trainings, discussions, panels, etc.) every following academic year during their time at Augsburg University. <em>After completing an event, individuals should email the event name, date, time, and location to <a href=\"mailto:inclusion@augsburg.edu\">inclusion@augsburg.edu<\/a>\u00a0so that the event can be recorded.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Workshop Descriptions<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Please Note: <\/strong>Workshop dates, times, and locations subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances and\/or low registration numbers. Always remember to check the Equity and Inclusion Initiatives Events Calendar DAY OF for the most up-to-date information.<\/p>\n<h3>Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Process<\/h3>\n<p>The Intercultural Development Inventory\u00ae (IDI\u00ae) Process includes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Completing the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), a 50-item online assessment that can be completed in about 20 minutes;<\/li>\n<li>attending an IDI Group Profile Session led by an IDI Qualified Administrator;<\/li>\n<li>participating in an Individual Feedback Session with an IDI Qualified Administrator; and<\/li>\n<li>working on an IDI Intercultural Development Plan.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The IDI assesses intercultural competence, i.e. the capability to shift cultural perspective and appropriately adapt cultural behavior in order to effectively navigate intercultural goals.<\/p>\n<p><em>For more information about the IDI Process, email <a href=\"mailto:inclusion@augsburg.edu\">inclusion@augsburg.edu<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSfv2owW-niSS8wTgz0Wr6z_35wa-rQ1519ZR4ozFkoUZEyVDg\/viewform?usp=dialog\">Register for the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Process<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Intercultural Communication and Conflict Style Workshop<\/h3>\n<p>This workshop makes use of the Intercultural Conflict Style (ICS) Inventory, which describes an individual\u2019s preferred approach or style for resolving conflict by reflecting the individual\u2019s culturally learned patterns for communicating and dealing with disagreements and expressing emotions.<\/p>\n<p><em>For more information about this workshop, email <a href=\"mailto:inclusion@augsburg.edu\">inclusion@augsburg.edu<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSf_aiDxQBS3WFxotnReeDv3Iw8S2lgN3p78Cnsj71OdAYZUOQ\/viewform?usp=dialog\">Register for the Intercultural Communication and Conflict Style Workshop<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Working Toward Inclusive Spaces Workshop<\/h3>\n<p>This workshop will highlight a common ideology, misunderstanding, and behavior that many well-meaning individuals frequently subscribe to that inadvertently sabotage their best attempts to create and maintain welcoming and inclusive spaces at Augsburg.<\/p>\n<p><em>For more information about this workshop, email\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:inclusion@augsburg.edu\">inclusion@augsburg.edu<\/a><\/em><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSc7_6PDj1LmdH450VGMTPVRRa4XWtSRXMWvhz0a_yuw5_4j0Q\/viewform?usp=dialog\">Register for the Working Toward Inclusive Spaces Workshop<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Brave Space Training<\/h3>\n<p>This workshop provides participants with the tools, skills, knowledge, and resources to be intentionally supportive of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA) communities at Augsburg. Additionally, participants will examine disability through the lens of diversity and identify underlying sources of prejudice and discrimination commonly experienced by people with disabilities. Additionally, it explores the subtle, often unintentional attitudes and stereotypes that affect our understanding of and actions toward others.
