To pay your child\u2019s bill, you need to be given third party access to your child\u2019s account. Click this link for information for setting up <a href=\"https:\/\/web.augsburg.edu\/enroll\/ThirdPartyPaymentSteps.pdf\">Third Party Payment<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What information can I access about my child while they attend Augsburg?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Augsburg students&#8217; information is protected under <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1PGeeEwM7rCjczf73Dka048A3YkHM-bf3m6X9GAJ-VuA\/edit\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FERPA<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Augsburg\u2019s policy only allows for the University to release information if your student has signed a release of information to you specifically. Augsburg will communicate with individuals identified as the emergency contact** under certain circumstances. These exceptions include, but are not limited to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Student emergencies (e.g., hospitalizations)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Missing student\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students found responsible for drug and\/or alcohol violations (students under 21 only)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please note: The University will call who the student has named as their emergency contact.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"augs_expand_expandable_heading\"><button data-action=\"expands\" aria-controls=\"augs_expand_69d2fde615893\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Academics<\/button><\/h3><div id=\"augs_expand_69d2fde615893\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><h3>How can my child request accommodations for classes?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If a student has ADHD, a mental health disability, a learning disability, a physical\/sensory impairment, a chronic health condition, is on the autism spectrum, or has another disability or a temporary disability, the CLASS Office can provide them with reasonable accommodations and support. To make an appointment with one of our disability specialists, visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/class\">CLASS <\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">website<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Once you have set your appointment, you will need to gather documentation of your student&#8217;s disability. This documentation must include your students&#8217; diagnosis and impact of the disability. This information should come from an appropriate professional (doctor, licensed therapist, etc.). Some examples include: IEP, 504 Plan, neuropsychological evaluation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What are some common accommodations?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accommodations, or academic adjustments, are tailored to each student. Common accommodations include:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alternative testing (e.g., extra time, limited distraction)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Electronic textbooks with read-aloud technology<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Housing adjustments<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note-taking support<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assistive technology<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How does my child register for classes?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your student will have a specific timeline for registering for classes. All registration deadlines are listed in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/registrar\/calendars\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Academic Calendar<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. While you are waiting for your time to register, it will be important to prepare. It will be important to know your Inside Augsburg username and password. Log into <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/inside.augsburg.edu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Records &amp; Registration<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to check for holds on the Welcome page. You will need to clear any holds in order to register. Use the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/web.augsburg.edu\/advising\/Weekly%20Planner.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Course Planner<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (PDF) and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/registration.augsburg.edu\/recreg\/Pages\/frmCourseSearch.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Course Search<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to prepare for online registration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When your registration date\/time arrives, log into Records &amp; Registration. Once you have logged in, a Welcome page will appear with a menu of options on the left side of the screen. Click on \u2018Search\/Register for Classes\u2019 in the left-hand navigation. After this, use the \u2018Academic Term\u2019 drop-down menu to select the correct Semester and Program (AU, DAY, GRAD, ROCH). Use the other fields to narrow your search. Once you hit \u2018Search\u2019 you will see a summary of courses that match your search options.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you click an individual course listing, you will see more details about the course (prerequisites, general education categories, room location, etc.). After you have made your decision, click on \u2018Register for This Course.\u2019 This will bring up a confirmation page. Select \u2018Confirm Registration\u2019 to save the registration to your schedule. More detailed information can be found on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/registrar\/registration\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Registrar\u2019s Office website.\u00a0<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"augs_expand_expandable_heading\"><button data-action=\"expands\" aria-controls=\"augs_expand_69d2fde6158d3\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Living on Campus<\/button><\/h3><div id=\"augs_expand_69d2fde6158d3\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><h3>When does my child move onto campus?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First-years can begin moving in on Thursday, August 24, unless otherwise approved (e.g., some fall student-athletes, participants in SOAR IV, etc.). Classes begin on Tuesday, August 30. It is recommended that your child be moved in and set up before classes begin. More information about moving in can be found on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/residencelife\/housing-information\/firstyearstudents\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Residence Life\u2019s website.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Can students stay in their rooms during breaks?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Urness Hall is closed during Winter and Spring break. Although, exceptions are made for students who request to stay. Upon completion of proper paperwork, students can be allowed to stay over breaks. See <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/residencelife\/parallax-front-page\/residence-life-handbook-policies\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Residence Life Handbook<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for more details on Break Periods.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>How can I send mail to my child?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All residential students will get a campus box assigned to them when they first become a residential student. An email notification will be sent to residents with the campus box number shortly before the start of the fall semester. Commuter students can request a campus box; requests can be made with the Mailroom staff 9:30am-12pm in the Mailroom or the central Services staff in the Copy Center 7:30am &#8211; 5pm. Students can rent a lock for a $5.00 rental fee from Shipping\/Receiving, personal locks are not permitted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mail is usually received from the United States Postal Service mid-morning and all first class mail is distributed to campus boxes by noon, second class (catalogs, magazine, non-profit, etc) is usually distributed by 4pm. To do so, call the Department of Public Safety (available 24\/7) at (612) 330-1717. Due to FERPA, the University generally cannot update you on the status of your child unless. If you have further concerns, you can contact the Dean of Students Office by phone (612) 330-1160 or by email at <\/span><a href=\"mailto:deanofstudents@augsburg.edu\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">deanofstudents@augsburg.edu<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"augs_expand_expandable_heading\"><button data-action=\"expands\" aria-controls=\"augs_expand_69d2fde615913\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Campus Life<\/button><\/h3><div id=\"augs_expand_69d2fde615913\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><h3>What transportation options are available for my child to get to and from campus?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your child is driving to campus, there is parking available on campus. Although, as an urban campus, Augsburg has always worked hard to maintain a balance between providing parking and promoting more environmentally sustainable modes of transportation. We must facilitate parking and enforce procedures in order to accommodate the high usage of our limited parking areas on campus. More information and parking permits can be found on the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/dps\/parking\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Department of Public Safety Parking Page.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your student is not driving to campus, there are alternative means of transportation. With the help of MetroTransit and Augsburg, all undergraduate day students who pay the semester Green Fee are eligible for the Auggie Pass. The Auggie Pass is an all-you-can ride transit pass for Augsburg students. More information can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.augsburg.edu\/transportation\/auggie-pass\/\">Auggie Pass website<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Augsburg has bike racks for riders to secure their bikes at various locations on campus. Visit our<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.augsburg.edu\/transportation\/bicycling\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> bicycling page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for a map of locations. In addition to bike racks, Augsburg University has bike lockers located inside of Anderson Hall and Mortenson Hall. Ensure you are properly locking your bike whenever you are leaving it unattended. We recommend following the Bike MN\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikemn.org\/education\/minnesota-bicycling-handbook\/theft-prevention\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">guide to prevent bicycle theft.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> If your bike or parts of your bike are stolen, please alert the Department of Public Safety at (612) 330-1717.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Augsburg University encourages students to Bike to campus. Augsburg has a bike share program to address the transportation needs of Augsburg University students, faculty and staff. Augsburg students can check out bikes and helmets from Lindell Library with their Augsburg ID. Bikes are locked to a rack in front of the library building. To check out, go to the Circulation Desk in Lindell Library, present your ID and say, \u2018I\u2019d like to check out a bike.\u201d Then you will be given a key for the bike lock and the option of checking out a helmet. Augsburg is home to more than 60 different student organizations. All of our engagement opportunities can be found on our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/augsburg.campuslabs.com\/engage\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Auggie Life website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Search through any organization on our <a href=\"https:\/\/augsburg.campuslabs.com\/engage\/organizations\">organizations website<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>In what ways does the university promote a safe campus climate?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Augsburg has its own <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/dps\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Department of Public Safety<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (DPS) that is committed to providing a safe and welcoming atmosphere. Augsburg\u2019s DPS issues timely alerts and advisories as required by federal law in order to provide the Augsburg community with information to increase the safety of people and property. These timely notices provide information available to Public Safety at the time the alert or advisory is issued which may include limited suspect description or other information.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Augsburg University has an emergency notification system with phone, text, and email alerts available to students, staff, and faculty. (Ex. Baseball game at Parade Stadium)<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>What are some Common Violations of Cannabis use?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While on campus or at a university sponsored event, you can not be publicly intoxicated or smell like cannabis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Can I Possess Cannabis Paraphernalia While on Campus?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will remain a violation of Augsburg\u2019s standards of conduct to possess cannabis paraphernalia, used or not. If you are found to possess paraphernalia on campus or at a university sponsored event, it will be confiscated and disposed of, subsequent sanctions will be adjudicated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What happens if I commit a cannabis violation?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have been alleged to have committed a cannabis violation, you will go through the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1U4qII7Luw6L3BYro3Ov-gM-RmcLwmVAkYnkIkl10KRk\/edit?tab=t.0\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">conduct adjudication process<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Alcohol<\/h2>\n<h3>Where can I and can\u2019t I consume alcohol on campus?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consumption of alcohol is prohibited in public areas (e.g., lounges, kitchens, bathrooms, balconies, or hallways).\u00a0 If you are a resident of Mortensen Hall, Anderson Hall, and Luther Hall and are 21 or older, you have the right to consume and serve alcohol to guests of 21 or older in your residence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oren Gateway Center and Urness Hall are dry residence halls. This means alcohol is not allowed at all.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Can I possess alcohol paraphernalia on campus?\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Augsburg University prohibits kegs, beer pong tables, beer bongs and other similar beverage containers commonly used to serve multiple individuals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In cases where all residents are under the age of 21, they should be alcohol free. This means that alcohol bottles, cans, and decorations (e.g.; posters, banners) are prohibited.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What Happens if I Commit an Alcohol Violation?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have been alleged to have committed an alcohol violation, you will go through the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1U4qII7Luw6L3BYro3Ov-gM-RmcLwmVAkYnkIkl10KRk\/edit?tab=t.0\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> conduct adjudication process.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Other Drugs and Prescription Medication<\/h2>\n<h3>What is Augsburg\u2019s Policy When it Comes to Other Drugs?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Augsburg University prohibits the use, possession, manufacture or sale of all illicit drugs on its campus and at University sponsored events.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Can\u00a0 I Have My Prescription Drugs on Campus?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You are allowed to use and possess drugs prescribed to you while on campus, unless otherwise prohibited by state or federal law (e.g., medical cannabis). Students may also contact a community service agency such as<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">United Way First Call<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for Help (211) or (651) 291-0211<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Will I Get in Trouble if I Fear For the Safety or Myself When Consuming Alcohol or Drugs?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Augsburg University believes no one should be hindered from seeking potentially life-saving medical assistance on behalf of themselves or others. Because of this belief, Augsburg has adopted and instituted a Medical Amnesty policy.
