“Elections are a universal stress that impacts us all. Several studies have shown that even the act of voting can increase cortisol, but your bad mood might not go away after you come home from the polls.
Feeling noticeably more depressed and anxious right now? This is normal in the weeks and months after a contentious election. One study by University of Nevada, Reno, economist Sankar Mukhopadhyay looked at self-reported symptoms people had following the 2020 election, using U.S. Census Bureau surveys. For students who would like a brief mental health check-in, get support from peers and CWC counseling staff, and connect with others in the Augsburg Community. Although not aimed toward the election, meeting topics are flexible based on student needs. Pizza is provided. For more information, stop by CWC!

24/7/365 Urgent Phone Counseling (phone counseling)
Students can call 844-287-6963 to talk confidentially to a counselor over the phone at any time of day or night.
BetterMynd (online therapy platform)
Augsburg partners with BetterMynd to provide online therapy to students from a diverse network of licensed mental health counselors. Each student begins with 5 individual session credits. To schedule an appointment, call 612-330-1707.
- Each student starts with 5 sessions and can be granted more by request.
- Can be helpful to note that these counselors are available over the winter break when CWC is closed
