When you start building something, you want it to be perfect from the very first spark. And nothing kills your momentum faster than realizing what you just made sucks. But it\u2019s supposed to suck! It\u2019s not fully formed yet &#8211; it\u2019s just this delicate mass of ideas and features trying to find its form. It takes many iterations to figure out what it really is. And there\u2019s no shortcut you can take to get there faster.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Creativity is messy\u2026 and it\u2019s supposed to be. It\u2019s those who stick with their project through this early, ugly phase that come out the other side with something valuable. Stick with it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Augsburg SEM Planning Machine requires a sustained culture of SEP ideas that arise from working groups following the three step process of analysis, ideas, then recommendations. When a working group concludes this process there is still an ongoing need for SEP ideas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5,000 Auggies by 2030 \u2013 Fostering an Ideas Culture to Feed SEP<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the November 2024 Focused Conversation participants brainstormed ways to support this idea culture to feed the SEP process. Here is a summary of those discussions.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Focus on SEP Ideas \u2013 Context \u201canatomy of a SEP idea\u201d, boundaries i.e. avoiding moving directly into implementation, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An accessible \u201ccontainer\u201d for SEP Ideas \u201cso everyone can be at the table and be heard\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How do we hear from individuals outside of Augsburg? This may lead to new ideas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facilitated and informal gatherings for SEP idea conversations (staff and faculty)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ongoing SEP situational analysis re: changes in government policy and Augsburg student demographics<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spaces to have conversation. (all dept meetings, retreats, schools, \u201cstaff does not seem to have voice at UC, conversations are not happening\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Find ways to free up mind space for creative SEP idea thinking.\u00a0 Find ways to look at the horizon. Create a resourced structure that supports accountable SEP idea generation via outside\/virtual conferences and events. \u201cSEP Idea Fund\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>SEP Idea Submission<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What suggestions do you have to sustain a culture of ideas beyond the initial SEP Working Groups that feeds strategic enrollment planning?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">REMINDER: some ideas generate recommendations, some recommendations become 60 day SEP actions, some 60 SEP day actions may result in actual tracked growth implementation.
